Chandrayaan-2's Vikram Lander loses contact
Towards final moments of historic feat, just before landing on luner surface, mission suffered some technical glitches. As it stands, ISRO's Twitter handle shared that y have lost communication at 3:00am IST. Speaking about situation, ISRO Chairman K Sivan confirmed in a statement that contact with Vikram lander was lost at about 2.1 kilometers above Moon's surface and added that ground station is analysing data. ISRO said data from Chandrayaan 2 mission is being analysed.
1,471-kg lander of Chandrayaan-2, first Indian mission to explore lunar terrain with home-grown techlogy -- is named Vikram after Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai, far of Indian program. lander was designed to execute a soft landing on lunar surface and to function for one lunar day, which is equivalent to about 14 earth days.
