Chhath Puja 2024: Security Heightened Across Bihar, Elaborate Arrangements Made for Devotees

Patna: Elaborate arrangements have been me by Bihar government across state for third day of Chhath Puja festivities on Thursday.
Devotees will worship Goddess 'Chhathi Maiya' by offering prayers or 'arghya' to setting sun on Thursday.

second 'arghya' will be offered to rising sun on Friday morning, marking culmination of four-day festival.

Patna district ministration has me elaborate security arrangements at more than 100 ghats along Ganga here to avert any untoward incident during Chhath, Bihar's biggest festival, officials said on Thursday.
Besides, several medical camps have been set up at different ghats in Patna, y said.

According to district ministration, arrangements have been me at various ponds such as Kachhi Talab, Gardanibagh Pond, Manikchand Pond, Anisab and Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park Lake.
Besides, major parks such as Eco Park, Energy Park, Veer Kunwar Singh Park, Shivaji Park, Hardinge Park, Hanuman Nagar Park and S K Puri Park have also been prepared for festivities.

Speaking to PTI on Thursday, Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said, "All ghats are rey for Chhath Puja festival. Arrangements have been me at all ghats, including Banshi Ghat, Krishna Ghat, Kali Ghat, Kam Ghat and Patna College Ghat." "We have issued visories for Chhath Puja, which visitors and devotees must follow. Officials have also been directed to ensure devotees face inconvenience," he ded.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , along with senior officials, has alrey conducted an extensive inspection of ghats along Ganga River in Patna to ensure smooth arrangements for Chhath festival.

"A large number of ditional security forces have been deployed in state capital to man crowds and avoid any untoward incidents. Besides, personnel of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and NDRF have also been deployed at various ghats in city," ar senior official of Patna district ministration said.
four-day festivities began on vember 5 with 'Nahai Khai' ritual, during which devotees take a holy dip in Ganga and or rivers and ponds.
festival begins on sixth day of Kartik Shukla and six days after Diwali .
On first day, worshippers hour 'Chhathi Maiya' and sun god, and seek ir blessings for prosperity of ir families and children.
On next day, devotees observe day-long fasting, which ends in evening after praying to sun and moon.
third day is called 'Pehla Argyha' or 'Sandhya Arghya'. Devotees go to river bank and offer pras and 'argya' to sun god. festivities will conclude on vember 8.
