New Delhi: All schools across Delhi and Noida will remain closed on Thursday (November 7) due to Chhath Puja.
The Delhi government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party in a notice announced the public holiday. The Delhi government has declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, on November 7.

"Chhat Pooja is an important festival for the people of NCT of Delhi. Accordingly, the Government of NCT of Delhi has decided to declare 7th November 2024 as a Public Holiday on account of 'Chhat Pooja'," Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said in a letter to the Chief Secretary.
Meanwhile, for Noida, an advisory was released.

"As per the directive received at 8:00 pm today, from the Basic Shiksha Adhikari Office, November 7, 2024, has been declared a holiday for schools on account of Chhath Puja," an advisory of a Noida school.
Officials asserted that the order covers all recognised schools affiliated with different boards, including the CBSE , ICSE, IB, and UP Board.

According to media reports, all government and private schools from nursery to 8th grade in Lucknow and Ghaziabad will also remain closed on November 7.
Chhath is a Hindu festival primarily celebrated in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. This four-day festival honors the Sun God and involves fasting, sacred bathing, and meditation while standing in water. The auspicious celebration of Chhath Puja commenced on Tuesday.
