Chhattisgarh: 5 Maoists Killed In Encounter In Bastar Jungle, 2 Security Personnel Injured

Bastar: At least five Maoists were killed in a massive encounter in Abujhm area in Chhattisgarh 's Bastar region on Saturday. massive gun battle that took place between team of joint forces and Maoists on Saturday resulted in killing of five Maoists. At least two security personnel also sustained injuries during encounter and were shifted to a hospital for treatment. condition of both security personnel is claimed to be stable. 

Inspector General (IG) of Bastar Range, Sundarraj P said, “A joint search operation involving personnel of district reserve guards (DRG), special task force (STF), Bastar Fighters and Border Security Force (BSF) was launched in Abujhm in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.” 

“An exchange of fire took place between security forces and Maoists many times. After conducting search operation of area, de bodies of five Naxalites including two women Maoists were recovered. Weapons were also recovered,” IG stated.

police official said that gunfight broke out at around 8 am in a forest in north Abujhm along border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation. bodies of five Naxalites and a cache of firearms have been recovered from spot so far and a search operation is still underway in area.

Including this incident, bodies of 197 Naxalites have been recovered so far this year following separate encounters in state’s Bastar region, comprising seven districts including Kanker and Narayanpur, police said.
