Chhattisgarh: CM Bhupesh Baghel performs aarti on Kartik Purnima

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday, November 12, took a holy dip and performed aarti at Mahadev Ghat at Kharu river on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. The festival of Kartik Poornima is also known as Dev Deepawali, and to commemorate this occasion, devotees take a holy dip in the river. CM Baghel participated in the celebrations at the Mahadev Ghat and prayed for peace and harmony in the state.

Highlighting the significance of the festival, Baghel said, 

"Kartik Purnima is important for the people of Chhattisgarh. On the day of Kartik Purnima which is today, large number of devotes take a holy dip at the Mahadev Ghat. I am also here to join them. I pray to God for peace and harmony in Chhattisgarh."

Baghel was accompanied by Congress MLA Vikas Upadhyay during the religious celebrations at the bank of Kharun River.

Speaking to ANI, Upadhyay said, "The Chief Minister came here and took a holy dip along with all other devotees. He also performed the aarti at the Kharun River and took part in the cultural events".

Kartik Poornima in Ayodhya 

A large number of devotees have come from the hilly regions of the country, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to take part in the Kartik Poornima festivities. Kartik Poornima was also celebrated with great pomp and fanfare in Ayodhya. With lakhs of devotees celebrating the festival with faith, security measures across North India have also been tightened. The district administration in Ayodhya made elaborate security arrangements for the festive occasion in the wake of the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ayodhya case. A senior official said, besides police force on high alert in the city, units of paramilitary forces, home guards have also been deployed.
