Chidambaram in Tihar: Here's a list of his demands during his custody

In a huge setback, P Chidambaram has been sent to judicial custody in Tihar jail till September 19 in case being probed by CBI related to INX Media case by Rouse Avenue Court. former Finance Minister will be lodged in Jail number . 1, Ward . 9. Court allows Chidambaram's application for 'amenities' in Tihar jail
P Chidambaram moved an application for several amenities in jail. He has demanded a separate cell with a cot and a bathroom, medicines, western toilet and Z security. court has allowed Congress leader's plea for additional amenities. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that adequate security would be given to ex-Home Minister.

Karti Chidambaram's time in Tihar jail
Karti Chidambaram was sent to Tihar jail in March 2018 in corruption case regarding INX Media case. Karti had asked for a separate cell and bathroom and security saying that his far was an ex-Union Minister. He had also asked for home-cooked food, medicines, toiletries and spectacles. He was allowed to take his spectacles and medicines by court.

Supreme Court refuses Chidambaram anticipatory bail
In a setback to former Union minister P Chidambaram, Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant him pre-arrest bail in INX Media money laundering case lodged by Enforcement Directorate. top court dismissed Chidambaram's plea challenging Delhi High Court verdict denying him anticipatory bail in case, saying ecomic offence has to be dealt with differently as it affects ecomy of country. A bench of Justices R Banumathi and A S Bopanna said it is t a fit case to grant anticipatory bail. grant of anticipatory bail to Chidambaram at this st will hamper investigation, it said.

Details from SC order denying pre-arrest bail
Congress leader's 15-day CBI custody, ordered by special court in five spells, which started after his arrest on August 21 night, came to an end on Thursday and he will be produced before trial court. investigating ncy has to be given sufficient freedom to conduct probe into case, apex court said. It also rejected Chidambaram's application for direction to ED to produce transcripts of his questioning conducted by ncy on three dates. top court said it has power to peruse case diary even before commencement of trial and added that it has refrained from perusing documents placed before it by ED in a sealed cover as it may prejudice or accused.
