Chinmayanand sexual assault case: Evidence recovered from DPS Rathore

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has questioned BJP leader DPS Rathore in an extortion case involving a law student who has accused that former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanad sexually harassed her. The SIT questioned the BJP leader for 12 hours wherein Rathore handed his laptop and pen drive over to them. The pen drive is reported to contain video clips related to the alleged sexual assault.

Rathore questioned for 12 hours
The SIT questioned the BJP leader on Sunday for 12 hours in relation to his suspected role in attempting to extort money from the former Union Minister. DPS Rathore is also the chairman of the district cooperative bank and was present in Dausa, Rajasthan when the Shahjahanpur crime branch team found the 23-year-old law student. DPS Rathore, who is the younger brother of BJP state vice-president JPS Rathore reportedly stated that he was trying to help the administration in a positive way but the SIT has had a misunderstanding in relation to some of the facts of the case. DPS Rathore claims that he had gone to Dausa on the basis of the request made by a few senior police officers to help them in the search for the 23-year-old who was missing at the time.

The SIT had previously dug up a drain to unearth evidence
The SIT had previously dug the drain outside the college to search for evidence in the rape case. The purpose of digging the drains was to look for a spy camera fitted spectacle through which a sting video was made of Chinmayanand by the complainant. The student had thrown off the spectacle in the drains along with a purse and some files. The SIT had recovered the purse of the complainant, some files as well as student identity cards. He also faces charges of stalking, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.
