Chotigam: In a dramatic overnight operation, SoG, Shopian, along with the Indian Army, engaged in a fierce encounter with a local Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, trapping them inside a three-storey house in Chotigam area.
The operation, initiated after receiving credible intelligence inputs about the terrorist movement, began around 2:30 am, as per sources.
The sound of heavy gunshots echoed through the Chotigam village until 4:30 am, causing alarm among local residents.
Since then, an eerie silence has enveloped the area as security forces intensify efforts to neutralise the trapped terrorist.
Sources confirm that the trapped terrorist is alive and efforts are underway to neturalise the threat.
The joint security forces are carrying an operation to ensure the safety of civilians while resolving the tense standoff.
The story is developing and will be updated as the situation unfolds.
Pertinently, in 2022, Shopian district in South Kashmir has witnessed the highest number of anti-terror operations between joint security forces and terrorists, in which the highest number of local terrorists were neutralised.
