Two days after the atrocious statement made by Kerala MLA PC George against a nun allegedly raped by Bishop Franco Mulakkal, the Church has now declared war against the Kerala nun. The Missionaries of Jesus has issued a press statement on Monday rejecting the allegations levelled against the Bishop. The Church has sought to defend the accused Bishop in the case and took on the victim instead.
The Missionaries of Jesus in Jalandhar has lashed out at the nun and said the “innocent Bishop is being crucified with baseless allegations,” adding, “our Bishop did not rape.”
While issuing a press release slamming the victim nun, the Missionaries of Jesus said the victim alleged that the Bishop raped her since 5th of May 2014, but “even after the said date, the same nun had invited the Bishop to her family functions and the Bishop had also attended the said functions. Even after May 5 2014, the Sister had coordinated various programmes of the Bishop during his visit to Kerala and had also travelled with the Bishop.”

Calling it a sinister plot against the Bishop, the Church said, “Why did the Sister invite the Bishop if she was brutally raped?”
The Church also lashed out at the sisters protesting in supporting of the victim, claiming they are not the ‘Kuravilangad convent’ and that “they are staying in the convent to be members of this sinister plot”.

The church while defending the Bishop has asked for a probe against the sisters and the nun in connection with the case.
Accusing the victim nun of fabricating lies, the Church said that initially she said that she had complained about the harassment to the seniors in the convent, however later she retracted the statement.

The Church's statement comes two days after PC George, independent MLA from Kerala’s Poonjar compared the rape victim nun to a prostitute. When Republic TV confronted the misogynist MLA on Sunday, he remained brazen and refused to apologise for his remarks. He even shamelessly said that in his opinion the nun came forward just for “publicity”.
When Republic TV questioned his misogynism and asked him whether he would step down taking responsibility for his statement, George laughed it off and said, “For what should I apologise. What I said is correct.”
