Amarinder Singh condemns JNU violence, calls out Delhi Police for being silent

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter on Sunday night and condemned the violence that took place inside JNU

Chief Minister of Punjab, Amarinder Singh took to microblogging website, Twitter on Sunday night and condemned violence that took place within JNU. This comes as report of massive brutality emerged from within JNU campus on Sunday as a few masked goons entered campus and started hitting students and faculty members.

Captain Singh blamed Delhi Police and said that y cant remain a silent spectator to violence. He also termed incident as "barbaric and atrocious".

How did fight start?

A statement issued by Registrar of Jawaharlal Nehru University explained that some students have been against registration process for new hostel room rent and how y have time and again tried to disrupt process.

Explaining how violence began on Sunday, press te issued by JNU narrated that "Around 4.30 PM, a group of students, who are against registration process moved aggressively from front of min block and reached hostels".

" ministration immediately contacted Police to come quickly and maintain law and order on campus. However, by time police came, students who are for registration were beaten up by a group of agitating students opposing registration. Some masked miscreants also entered Periyar hostel rooms and attacked students with sticks and rods. Some of security guards doing duties at se places were also bly injured. During last couple of weeks, se agitating students also vandalised min block and ransacked office of Vice-Chancellor for which a few police complaints were filed," statement ded.

ABVP, JNUSU play a blame game

On or hand, various students have been injured amidst protests and y have been mitted to Safdarjung and AIIMS hospital in Delhi. JNUSU president Aishe Gosh was brutally attacked amid violence.

Reportedly, many students, faculty members and JNUSU have claimed that "ABVP goons" are ones behind brutal attack. On contrary, ABVP claimed that y have also been brutally attacked by students affiliated to leftist organizations like SFI, AISA and DSF.
