Cocaine Worth Rs 43 Crore Recovered From Inside Crockery Sets at Delhi Airport, Thai Woman Held

New Delhi: The Customs Department officials intercepted a Thai woman carrying cocaine worth Rs 43 crore at the Delhi airport. She was allegedly trying to smuggle the drugs by concealing it inside crockery sets. She was subsequently arrested, the customs department said on Saturday.
The accused, aged around 33, was intercepted after her arrival from Bangkok on July 23.

During a physical examination of her baggage and a personal search, officers seized 3.12 kilogrammes of cocaine from three crockery sets kept inside her trolley bag, the customs department said in a statement.
The value of the recovered narcotic in the international market is Rs 43.13 crore.

The passenger was arrested and the narcotic seized, the statement added.
In a separate incident on Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intercepted a German national of Indian origin carrying nearly 6kg of grade-A cocaine at the Indira Gandhi International airport.

The value of the seized drug was estimated to be around Rs 100 crore in the international market. Every kg of cocaine sells upwards of Rs 12 crore depending on its quality and purity. CBI acted after receiving inputs from Interpol and laid a trap.
The accused flyer, identified as Ashok Kumar, had travelled in IndiGo flight 6E 1308 from Doha. The contraband was hidden in capsules hidden inside two soft toys, the sleuths had found.
