Cong-NCP leaders to meet soon; talks with Sena only after CMP is vetted by high command

Top leaders of the Congress and NCP are expected to meet in Delhi in one or two days' time to finalise the Common Minimum Programme before talking to Shiv Sena.

As per sources, top leers of Congress and NCP are expected to meet in national capital in one or two days' time. y are likely to give a final shape to Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of both parties. Sources reveal that as soon as final draft of CMP is approved by high command of both parties, discussions with Shiv Sena would be held. Earlier on Tuesday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi h reportedly asked leers such as AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, and Mallikarjun Kharge to ensure that a Karnataka-like fiasco does t happen in Maharashtra.

dressing media after meeting Congress president on Monday, NCP supremo Shar Pawar seemed to make a U-turn on alliance with Sena. He stated that question of government formation was t discussed. Furrmore, he claimed igrance about finalising CMP.

Shar Pawar said, "We discussed in detail about Maharashtra's political situation. I briefed Sonia Gandhi on it. Mr. AK Antony was also re. Certain leers of both(Congress-NCP) parties will meet and discuss furr and get back to us. re was talk of Government formation in our meeting, this meeting was all about discussing Congress and NCP."

tussle for power in Maharashtra

Since ne of major political parties could garner eugh numbers for government formation, President's Rule was imposed in Maharashtra on vember 12. Hectic parlays have been going on in NCP, Shiv Sena, and Congress camps to forge a post-poll alliance in state. Sources also indicated that a formula has been worked out whereby Sena would get CM’s post for 5 years. However, all three parties would have ministers proportionate to ir strength in Maharashtra assembly. As per sources, Sena, NCP, and Congress could get 16, 14 and 12 ministries respectively.
