Congress leader Digvijaya Singh stokes controversy, insults Hindus

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has stoked yet another controversy with a shocking remark. While addressing a gathering in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, the senior Congress leader has said 'people wearing saffron clothes and raping'. He further alleged that rapes are taking place in temples, adding that the god will not spare those who have defamed the 'Sanatan Dharma'.

"In today's time people are wearing saffron clothes and raping, rapes are happening inside temples, is this our religion? Those who have defamed our 'Sanatan Dharma', not even God will forgive them," Digvijaya Singh said.

Digvijaya Singh's controversial statements

This is not the first time when the Congress Rajya Sabha MP has made a controversial statement. Earlier in September, Digvijaya Singh had alleged that BJP and Bajrang Dal were taking money from Pakistan's ISI. He also targeted BJP, saying that it was not part of India's freedom struggle, unlike the Congress. Digvijaya Singh also alleged that most Pakistani spies in India were non-Muslim. In the wake of the shocking statements made by Digvijaya Singh, a BJP leader had also lodged a criminal case against the senior Congress leader over his statement that BJP and Bajrang Dal take money from Pakistan's spy agency ISI. 

"Our fight with BJP and Sangh is ideological. They did not participate in India's Freedom struggle. Now, they are giving us advice about nationalism. Where were they before 1947? Where were they when Indira Gandhi destroyed Pakistan into two? The number of Pakistan spies found in India is majorly non-muslims. Muslims spies are fewer. Bajrang Dal, BJP - they are taking money from ISI," Singh had claimed.

Tiff in Madhya Pradesh Congress

There have been reports of internal feud within the Congress party in Kamal Nath-led Madhya Pradesh government. Earlier MP Forest Minister Umang Singhar had written a letter to the Congress party high command alleging that Digvijaya Singh is interfering in running the Kamal Nath government. Speaking in the matter, Singhar had said that Digvijaya Singh is running the government behind the scenes. He also accused Digvijaya Singh of trying to be the power centre in the MP government and trying to destabilize it.
