Congress plans padayatras on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary
The Congress party has planned a week-long celebration including a massive padayatra to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from October 2-9.

Congress party has planned a week-long celebration to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from October 2-9. In a circular released by AICC (All India Congress Committee) General Secretary KC Venugopal on September 4, party has anunced organisation of 'Payatras' throughout country. In order to spre thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi across nation, Congress party has planned massive Pyatras on October 2 at all state levels. During payatras, Congress leers and or supporters have been asked to wear Gandhi topi, carry photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and chant appropriate slogans to spre mess of Mahatma Gandhi.
Congress' grand plan
From October 3-9, Grand Old Party has planned various activities at state and district levels to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During week, lectures, seminars and debates will also be organised in which subject experts will share values and ideals for which Gandhiji stood for. Venugopal has also asserted that me of programme will be 'relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in today's social, political and ecomic scenario' in country.

BJP to organise Pyatra
Earlier in July, PM Modi instructed all BJP MPs to carry out 'payatra' in every Lok Sabha constituency between October 2 and October 31 to mark occasion of 150th birth anniversary Mahatma Gandhi. Pyatra movement will mark birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from October 2-October 31. Giving details of programme, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahl Joshi h stated that 10 groups will be me in every constituency in which MP and or BJP leers will carry out payatra for 15 kms each every day till October 31.
