Pradyot Kishore Manikya Deb Barman, Chief of Congress in Tripura has resigned from the party post citing differences with the party’s high command over his plea for the implementation of NRC in the state of Tripura. Barman, took to Twitter to express his relief after quitting from the party post. He said he is relaxed to have a start of the day without listening to criminals or liars. He added that he has to not worry about any colleague's backstabbing.

'Won't require to accomodate corrupt'

On Monday, Barman revealed about his resignation on Twitter stating that he doesn't have to listen to party high command about accomodating corrupt people in high positions. He thanked the people for their support and expressed his apologies for not being able to do enough for the people of Tripura.

Resigned over differences on NRC

Debberman said that he had resigned from all the posts of the Congress Party a few days back but the high command had insisted him not to make his resignation public before the by-elections to Badharghat constituency, which was held on Monday. He said that he had filed the litigation for introduction of NRC which the Congress High Command asked to withdraw but he refused and later resigned over the differences.

Debbarman was elected as the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President on February 25 this year. He is the grandson of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya who had ruled the princely state of Tripura and son of Kirit Bikram Kishore Deb Barman who ruled for only two years before the state's merger into India in 1949.
