Congress targets Delhi HC judge who denied bail plea to Chidambaram
Amid the ongoing probe against Chidambaram, Congress leaders have targeted former Delhi HC judge who dismissed former FM's bail plea in INX Media case.

Amid ongoing probe against former Finance Minister Chidambaram, Congress leaders have targeted former Delhi High Court judge who days ago dismissed bail plea of Chidambaram in INX Media case. Justice Sunil Gaur dismissed anticipatory bail plea of Chidambaram in Delhi High Court, following which CBI detained Congress leader for questioning in INX Media case. Days after verdict in Chidambaram's case, Justice Sunil Gaur retired as Delhi HC judge on August 23.
Congress targets Judiciary
As per reports, former Delhi HC judge has been appointed as chairperson of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Appellate Tribunal recently. He is set to take over post on September 23. In light of development, leaders of Congress party targeted ir attacks at former Delhi HC judge. Congress spokesperson and Supreme Court advocate Brijesh Kalappa took a jibe at Sunil Gaur, questioning his appointment as chairperson of PMLA Appellate Tribunal. Taking to Twitter, Kalappa taunted Gaur over his appointment within a week of his retirement. Furrmore, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala also took a barb at judiciary over development.

Who is Sunil Gaur?
Among several high profile cases heard by former Delhi HC, National Herald case and AgustaWestland chopper scam are some of m. Justice Sunil Gaur had previously passed an order giving clearance for prosecution of top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul in National Herald case. Recently, he denied anticipatory bail to nephew of senior Congress leader and MP CM Kamal Nath's son Ratul Puri in connection with AgustaWestland chopper scam. Prouncing verdict denying bail to Chidambaram on August 20, former Delhi HC judge had called him "kingpin" in INX Media case.

SC grants interim protection to Chidambaram
Meanwhile, Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim protection to senior Congress leader P Chidambaram from arrest in a case being probed by Enforcement Directorate in INX media case. top court will continue hearing in Chidambaram's plea against Delhi High Court’s order of dismissing his anticipatory plea on a case being probed by ED. He was arrested by CBI on August 22 following dramatic sequence of events from his residence. He is in CBI custody till August 30 for questioning in INX Media case.
