As the country is celebrating the 70th year of adopting the Indian Constitution, take a look at why it is celebrated and the history behind drafting it.

vember 26 has a historical significance.  Indian Constitution was opted on this day 70 years ago in 1949. reafter, it came into force on January 26, 1950. country is celebrating Constitution Day also kwn as Samvidhan Diwas to mark 70th anniversary of option of Constitution by Constituent Assembly.

Constitution Day was first celebrated in 2015 as a tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in drafting Constitution. Declaration regarding same was me by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11, 2015 — 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Samvidhan or Indian Constitution is supreme law in India, and it lays down framework to uphold structures, duties, political codes, procedures and powers to be followed by various bodies and institutions in country. Constitution also dictates directive principles, fundamental rights and duties of Indian citizens. Constitution, drafted by a Constituent Assembly and t a Parliamentary Assembly, is longest written constitution in world. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, chairman of Constitution drafting committee, is also called its chief architect.

Indian Constitution mentions that India is a Secular, Sovereign, Socialist, Democratic Republic. It also provides fundamental rights, equality, liberty, and justice to citizens. original copy of Constitution is preserved in a helium-case in Parliament House in New Delhi. words ‘secular’ and ‘socialist’ were ded to Constitution in year 1976 post emergency.

WB Assembly to hold special sessions to mark Constitution Day 

West Bengal assembly will hold special sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday to mark 70 years of option of Constitution, Speaker Biman Banerjee said on Monday. sessions will be dressed by Biman Banerjee and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This will be for first time that goverr and chief minister share a dais amid tussle between m. sessions will be dressed by several eminent dignitaries including former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, former West Bengal goverr, and national security visor M K Narayanan. winter session of state Assembly will start on vember 29.

Govt launches fundamental duties awareness campaign 

Government of India is all set to launch a campaign on 70th anniversary of option of Constitution on vember 26. campaign would be centered around spreing awareness among youth about fundamental duties as stated in constitution. During Conference of Goverrs in New Delhi, President Ram Nath Kovind expressed hope that all Goverrs and Lieutenant Goverrs will play a major role in creating awareness among masses on occasion of Constitution Day.
