In view of outbreak of vel coronavirus, Manipur government has banned import of packd food items from China, Myanmar and Souast Asian countries which do t comply with FSSAI regulations, officials said on Friday.

Manipur bans packd food items from China

tification issued by K Rajo Singh, ditional Food Safety Commissioner, Directorate of Health Services said:

" person shall import any packd food items me in China, Myanmar and or Souast Asian countries that do t comply with Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017."

" person shall manufacture, distribute, sell or expose for sale or dispatch or deliver to any nt or broker for purpose of sale, any packed food products which are t marked and labelled in manner as specified by regulations," it said.

As a precautionary measure, Directorate has urged public "t to consume any packd food items me in China, Myanmar and or Souast Asian countries". It has also directed all designated officers in state "to inspect, seize and to keep keen vigilance in interest of public health" and that n-compliance of tification will be "viewed seriously".

Manipur shares a 398-km international border with Myanmar and border town of Moreh serves as a major tre hub between India and her eastern neighbour.
