Coronavirus outbreak: Visitors, delegates wear masks at Auto Expo 2020

The effect of the deadly coronavirus outbreak was also seen at the 15th edition of Asia's largest automobile show,  Auto Expo 2020 with a footfall of visitors.

During biennial flagship motor show, Chinese participants reportedly stayed away from pavilions on day China's Great Wall Motor anunced an investment of one billion dollars into country's auto market. 

Since show is being held at time of outbreak, many delegates and participants besides media personnel were wearing masks. fear among people to be infected with vel virus has been escalating as pathogen has claimed 636 lives in China with more than 31,000 confirmed cases. However, masked delegations was also a rare scene at previous editions of motor show with hand sanitizers were ubiquitous at guest lounges of participating firms.

First instance of coronavirus impact on Auto Expo

In first instance of impact of coronavirus outbreak on Auto Expo, China's FAW firm automaker Haima Automobile cancelled its scheduled press conference on February 6 as top leership team of company was unable to make it to India. Haima, however, displayed its seven-seater seven-seater MPV 7X and SUV 8S and electric vehicle E1 at expo.

Even though Chinese presence was minimal at show, many people were seen protecting mselves. Jong who worked with Hyundai South Korea told a news ncy that y were from South Korea and keeping in mind global impact of rapid spre of virus, y did 't want to take any chance'. Furrmore, South Korea's Hyundai, world's most productive car factory has suspended its operations in  Ulsan complex on February 6.

According to international reports, analysts have said that se closures can also be first example of a phemen that rolled out around world. shutting down South Korean plant will also take a toll on company which could be as high as $500 million.
