Coronavirus outbreak: Railways suspends operations of India-Bangladesh trains, buses

The Indian Railways on Friday announced suspending the operation of existing India-Bangladesh cross border passenger trains and buses for one month.

In wake of Coronavirus outbreak, Indian Railways on Friday anunced suspension of operations of existing India-Banglesh cross border passenger trains and buses for one month from March 15. Issuing a tice, Indian Railways said, "As per visory of MHA, operation of existing India-Banglesh cross-border passenger trains (i.e. Maitree Express and Bandhan Express) and passenger buses shall remain suspended during period March 15 to April 15, 2020, or till furr orders whichever is earlier."

two trains- Maitree Express and Bandhan Express, connect India and Banglesh. While  Maitree Express runs between cities of Kolkata and Dhaka,  Bandhan Express connects Kolkata to Khulna city in Banglesh. Earlier,  Ministry of Home Affairs h anunced to suspend all  India-Banglesh passenger buses and trains till April 15.

As of date, total number of positive cases in India has soared to 88, while two deaths have also been reported, in Kalaburagi and West Delhi respectively.

India has suspended all visas, barring for a few categories such as diplomatic and employment apart, from keeping in abeyance visa-free travel facility to OCI cardholders till April 15. Moreover, Centre has “strongly vised” Indians to avoid all n-essential travel abro. government is also monitoring all suspected cases and issued preventive visories.
