Trending News: A couple in Karnataka recently offered 1002 bottles at Swami Koragajja Temple in Udupi district. As per the ritual, the offering in the form of sanctified liquor was then distributed among the devotees in the form of 'prasad.'

The couple, hailing from Shaligram in Udupi, offered liquor bottles and sought blessings at the temple after their wish of conceiving a baby was fulfilled.

Married for several years, the couple did the same as it had once promised to offer liquor bottles.

Koragajja was said to be a common man, whose family tradition involved consuming and offering liquor to deities.

It is also widely believed that Koragajja, the highly revered deity in Karnataka's Tulu Nadu, belonged to a family that was involved in thefts.

It has been said that his family too made offerings to deities in the form of liquor. However, Koragajja is not the only temple in the country where devotees offer liquor to deities.

Devotees at several temples across the country including the 6000-year-old Kal Bhairav Temple at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh , Kali Mata Temple in Delhi, Tarapith, Birbhum in West Bengal, Patiala Kali Temple in Punjab , Khabees Baba Temple in Lucknow, etc., also offer liquor to the deities.
