COVID-19: 10,913 new cases in Karnataka, 114 deaths

Karnataka on Friday reported 10,913 new cases of COVID-19 and 114 related fatalities, taking total number of infections to 6,90,269 and death toll to 9,789, health department said.

This is third consecutive day that state has reported over 10,000 new infections.

Out of 10,913 fresh cases reported on Friday, 5,009 cases were from Bengaluru urban alone.

As of October 9 evening, cumulatively 6,90,269 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in state, which includes 9,789 deaths and 5,61,610 discharges, health department said in its bulletin.

It said, out of 1,18,851 active cases,1,17,978 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and stable, while 873 are in ICU.

A total of over 57,39,530 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,09,980 were tested on Friday alone, and 49,618 among m were rapid antigen tests.

As many as 57 out of total 114 deaths reported today were from Bengaluru urban, followed by Mysuru (10), Tumakuru (6), Belagavi (5), Chikkaballapura, Davangere and Kolara (4);

Dharw, Shivamogga and Uttara Kanna (3), Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Bidar and Dakshina Kanna (2), Chikkamagaluru, Gag, Kodagu, Mandya, Raichur, Udupi and Vijayapura (1).

Most of de are eir with a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection or Influenza-like illness (ILI).

Among districts where new cases were reported, Bengaluru urban accounted for 5,009, Mysuru 826, Hassan 489, Davangere 450, Chitrurga 418, Dakshina Kanna 376, Tumakuru 366, Belagavi 269, Mandya 250, followed by ors.

Bengaluru urban district tops list of positive cases, with a total of 2,72,371 infections, followed by Mysuru 41,058 and Ballari 33,980.

Among discharges too, Bengaluru urban tops list with total 2,06,976 discharges, followed by Mysuru 32,729 and Ballari 30,785.
