Coronavirus: Advocates ask CJI for a “complete shut down” of the Supreme Court
The Advocates-on-Record Association of the Supreme Court on Sunday decided that they will not be appearing before the Court till April 4, 2020.

decision was taken by Association in view of lockdown imposed in Delhi till March 31 and with a view to safeguard top court of country.

This decision comes in light of Supreme Court decision of restricting its working to very limited cases to ensure that crowds do t gar inside court premises and community transmission of COVID-19 virus can be contained.

Supreme Court also decided to hold hearings for urgent matters via video conferencing where judges will be seated in courtroom and lawyers will make ir submissions from ar part of court via video conferencing.
SCAORA in its resolution says that borders have been shut down and members commuting from Gurgaon, Ghaziab and IDA will t be able to reach Court. Furr, association says, that metro services and or transport services have been shut down in city, which though has been done in best interest of citizens, can also cause a problem in daily commute of lawyers.

Association, in its resolution also me an appeal to Chief Justice of India “to completely close down premises of Supreme Court in best interests of health of Bar and Bench.
Supreme Court has, however, in previous occasions stated that a complete shutdown of Court in a crisis situation like current one, is t possible. Restrictive functioning, however, needs to be opted.
