COVID-19: NHRC issues notice to Delhi govt, Health Ministry over mismanagement allegations
NHRC has issued a notice to the Delhi govt and Union Health Ministry over a complaint alleging difficulties faced by the people in Delhi in COVID wards.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday, June 10 issued tice to Delhi government and Union Health Ministry over a complaint alleging difficulties faced by people in Delhi amid COVID-19 crisis. complaint me serious allegations regarding n-availability of beds in hospitals for COVID-19 patients and an inequate number of tests raising mismanment concerns. complaint was me by Ajay Maken, Ex-President, Delhi Presh Congress Committee.
Commission in its tice said, "He has t come up with mere allegations, rar he has me apparent sincere efforts to provide data in support of his complaint, which if true, raise a serious issue of inappropriate approach of government ncies towards plight of general public amounting to a serious issue of violation of human rights."

It furr ded, "Allegedly, re has been a massive delay in conducting last rites of those died during pandemic period; tests on bodies of symptomatic deceased are also t being conducted violating WHO and ICMR rms which can be extremely dangerous."

'Ensure comprehensive report'
Asking for a comprehensive report within next n days from Delhi Government as well as Health Ministry, commission in its tice said, "Commission would appreciate if both Government of NCT of Delhi and Union Health & Family Welfare Ministry consider matter in consultation with each or to ensure a comprehensive report within ten days. In meantime, government of NCT of Delhi is expected to increase number of beds and tests per day, for COVID-19 patients." According to NHRC, national capital is one of worst affected cities so far.

COVID-19 in Delhi
According to health bulletin, 1,501 fresh cases were reported in Delhi on Wednesday, taking tally to 32,810 cases. death toll stands at 984. This is second time when over 1,500 cases have been reported in a day in national capital. According to health bulletin, a total of 79 fatalities were reported on June 9, which took place between May 20 and June 8, out of which, 39 deaths took place on June 7 and 20 on June 6.
