Rajya Sabha MP D Raja on Monday criticised violence against  Jamia Millia University students and condemned police violence against agitating people all over country. "In a democratic country, people have right to express ir grievance, who gives right to police officials to enter university campus and attack students?" he asked.

Over 50 students were detained by Delhi police during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act on Sunday.  cops also used batons and teargas shells to disperse violent mob but denied firing at m. CPI leer held  union government responsible for police taking brutal actions against students at Jamia University.

Jamia Millia Islamia University h turned into a battlefield on Friday after students, who wanted to march to Parliament House to protest Citizenship Amendment Act, clashed with police. Fifty students were detained while stopping protestors at varsity gate and preventing m from carrying out ir march.

students, who were lathi-charged by police personnel, alleged that police also used tear gas to quell ir march. students also resorted to stone-pelting. However, protestors alleged that police resorted to stone-pelting first and students threw stones in response to attack.

CAA seeks to provide citizenship to mirity communities namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Banglesh and Pakistan. act applies to members of se communities having arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014. re were severe clashes in national capital against act on Sunday. People protesting against  Citizenship Amendment Act clashed with police in New Friends Colony near Jamia Millia Islamia University leaving nearly 60 people injured.

Subsequently, re were reports of students being injured and detained as police entered Jamia campus. In early hours of Monday, 50 students were released by police from  Kalkaji police station and New Friends Colony police station. Similar scenes were witnessed at Aligarh Muslim University as well.
