CPI leaders stage protest against Andhra govt over inaction in LG Polymers gas leak case
CPI leaders staged a protest against the Andhra Pradesh government at the Gandhi statue in Visakhapatnam over its alleged support to the LG Polymers plant.

Communist Party of India (CPI) leers on Monday, June 1, std a protest against Andhra Presh government at Gandhi statue in Visakhapatnam. y accused government of supporting LG Polymers company. CPI state secretary JVV Satyanarayana who led protest demanded relocation of factory from RR Venkatapuram vill. He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government h arrested people speaking against m inste of taking action against members of LG Polymers manment.

gas leak at LG Polymers
11 persons died and more than a thousand ors were exposed to gas leak that commenced at LG Polymers plant at about 2.30 am on May 7. Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) tried to subside effect by blowing water and people were asked to wear masks after wetting m in water. According to NDRF Director-General SN Prhan, leak from factory was minimal. In a statement, LG Polymers stated that it was investigating extent of dam and exact cause of leak and deaths.
AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met victims of gas leak at King George government hospital in Visakhapatnam and assured m all possible help. reafter, state government anunced a compensation of Rs.1 crore for kin of deceased, Rs.10 lakh for seriously injured, Rs.1 lakh for hospitalized, Rs.25,000 for those who received first aid and Rs.10,000 each for those affected in 5 vills. 500 kg of Para-tertiary butyl catechol (PTBC) chemical was airlifted from Daman to Andhra Presh for neutralising gas leak.

Andhra HC orders seizure
Recently, a division bench of Andhra Presh High Court comprising Justices JK Maheshwari and Lalitha Kanneganti ordered seizure of LG Polymers plant in gas leak case. It directed that one including Directors of company should be allowed to enter premises. Moreover, it ded that court's permission was necessary to shift any of movable and immovable assets, machinery, and contents from LG Polymers.
