CPI(M) criticises Centre for transferring Kozhikode Maoist case to NIA

CPI(M) had released a statement on Tuesday where it said that the decision of the Centre to transfer Kozhikode Maoist case weakens the federal system of India.

Kerala High Court on vember 27 h dismissed bail plea of two student activists of ruling CPI(M) - Thwaha Fazal (24) and Alan Suhaib (20) - who were arrested under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). students were arrested for allegedly distributing pro-Maoist pamphlets. court h mitted evidence submitted by police to prove arrested students h Maoist links and denied m bail. Fazal and Alan, students of journalism and law respectively and CPI(M)'s branch committee members, were arrested on vember 2 from Kozhikode, leing to widespre criticism in Left-ruled state.

Speaking to news ncy PTI last week, an NIA official said that y h registered case again and will be taking over in few days. "We have re-registered case yesterday (on Wednesday) and will take over investigation in coming days," official said.

On or hand, on Monday, CPI (M) accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of speaking "a bundle of untruths" during his rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday. CPI-M said PM was "rattled" by protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and declaration of several Chief Ministers that y will t implement  National Register of Citizens (NRC). In a statement, party politburo said protests against CAA and NRC will continue till government stops ongoing process.
