CPI "surprised" over govt's celebration of 100 days of 'success'

CPI asked how the government can talk about success at a time when the people of Jammu and Kashmir are facing an "unprecedented crisis" and an economic slowdown

CPI on Monday said it is "surprised" that government is celebrating 100 days of "success" even though country is facing an ecomic slowdown.  Communist Party of India (CPI) also asked how government can talk about success at a time when people of Jammu and Kashmir are facing an "unprecedented crisis".

"Growing unemployment, rising intolerance, suppression of democratic rights and pursuit of a divisive RSS nda, and gross neglect of ecomic slowdown, characterise 100 days of this RSS-led BJP government," it said in a statement.

" National Secretariat of Communist Party of India is surprised to te that when toiling masses and people, in general, are suffering due to ecomic slowdown, government is celebrating 100 days of success," it said.

CPI also said an unprecedented agrarian crisis remains undressed.  " people of Kashmir are facing unprecedented crisis due to suppression of democratic rights since last one month." 

"Nearly 20 lakh people in Assam are facing an uncertain future due to exclusion from NRC (National Register of Citizens). People in West Bengal and or states are being threatened by BJP leers and ministers with a new NRC," party said.

CPI expects that government will realise gravity of situation and work for unity and retrieving ecomy in interest of nation, party said. 

Opposition attacks government

Congress party alleged that re has been " development" in first 100 days of PM Modi's second term, with Rahul Gandhi saying re was a "glaring lack" of leership, direction, and plans where it is needed most -- to turnaround a "ravd ecomy."

Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Modi government and also "congratulated" it on 100 days of " development."

Congress' senior spokesperson Kapil Sibal, dressing a press conference, also alleged that government's 100 days in office have been characterised by "arrogance, uncertainty and vendetta politics". He attacked dispensation over issues such as state of ecomy, situation in Kashmir, National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam and action by probe ncies against opposition leers.

"Three words that describe first 100 days of BJP 2.0 - tyranny, chaos, and anarchy," Congress said earlier in a series of tweets.

AIMIM chief Asuddin Owaisi mounted an attack on PM Modi led government on 100 days of governance. In a tweet, Asuddin Owaisi lambasted Centre over communication blocke in Kashmir, GDP downfall and unemployment. Owaisi's criticism came Union Minister Prakash Javekar underscored achievements of government within first 100 days.
