Delhi Police on Sunday evening has arrested one suspect in the woman journalist robbery case that happened in Chittaranjan Park in Delhi on September 22.

Delhi Police on Sunday evening has arrested one suspect on woman journalist assault case that happened in Chittaranjan Park in Delhi on September 22. “One suspect has been apprehended. He has given vital clues for recovery of case property,” DCP (South Delhi) Atul Thakur told ANI.

On September 22, victim h gone shopping near Chittaranjan Park and was returning back at around 6 pm in an auto-rickshaw. At this juncture, two bike-borne miscreants came close to her auto-rickshaw when traffic movement was slow. robbers dragged her out of moving auto-rickshaw as y snatched her phone and mand to flee spot, leaving woman journalist with injuries on her face and hands. She was initially taken to a nearby hospital as she was bleeding profusely. Later, she was shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has condemned incident and expressed hope that culprits would get strictest punishment.
"I got to kw about an incident where a woman journalist from ANI (Asian News International) was attacked by chain snatchers. It is very unfortunate and sdening. I hope culprits get strictest punishment. All of us toger need to work to reduce crime incidents in Delhi," Kejriwal observed.

While police registered an FIR and formed a special team to probe matter on Monday, it suspended an assistant sub-inspector and two constables for inaction a day later. Subsequently, y revealed that suspects h been caught on CCTV camera.

Police h earlier said that y were analysing CCTV foot to identify accused involved in case and ascertain sequence of events. Special teams were formed to nab culprits involved in incident, officer ded.
According to police data, re has been a decline in snatching incidents over last three years. In 2017, 6,466 snatching cases were registered, in 2018, 4,707 cases while till September 15, 4,516 cases of snatching were registered.
