Ajay Pandita's murder: Plea in J&K HC seeks CBI probe & judicial inquiry

Ramesh Pandita filed a writ petition in Jammu and Kashmir High Court demanding a CBI probe and judicial inquiry into murder of his relative Ajay Pandita, who was killed by terrorists on June 8. A coordinator of global Kashmiri Pandit diaspora activities in J&K, petitioner stated that Kashmiri Pandit community h faced killings since late 1980s. Citing slain Sarpanch's interview to a local news channel in December 2019, Pandita argued that security was provided by J&K Police despite threats to former's life.
Contending that this reflected J&K Police's apathy and lack of sympathy towards Kashmiri Pandit community, petitioner expressed apprehension that evidence might be tampered leing to criminals getting away scot-free. Maintaining that transparency in investigation was of utmost importance for victim's family and community, he pressed for a judicial inquiry by a retired HC judge along with CBI probe. matter shall come up for hearing at 11 am on Tuesday.

Here is prayer of petitioner:
"It is, refore, humbly and respectfully prayed that Horable Court by writ of mandamus, order CBI Probe into this matter along with a Judicial Inquiry by of Hon’ble High Court immediately to secure justice to victim’s family and Kashmiri Pandit community. This Hon’ble Court may furr be pleased to issue such or writ, direction or order in favour of petitioner and against respondent as this Hon’ble Court may deem fit and appropriate in facts and circumstances of this case."

'I will fulfill my far's dream'
Earlier on June 11, Niyanta Pandita h demanded a probe into killing of her far Ajay Pandita. Speaking to ANI, she questioned why he h t been given security. Stressing that her far was a brave man who h served India without fear, she vowed to fulfill his dream.

Niyanta Pandita said, "y shot my far at back. y are cowards. I demand an inquiry into killing of my far. Why was he t given security? He was one of few Kashmiri Pandits who h stayed in Valley. He was a brave man and always served nation without fear. I am concerned about safety of my family. I will continue with my studies and fulfill my far's dream."
