Cracking down on police action on students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Allahab High Court on Thursday has asked Uttar Presh government and AMU ministration to reply to pleas on violence occurred on Sunday. pleas filed h alleged that police h used baton charge and tear gas shells on students who were protesting against amended Citizenship Act. Earlier on Wednesday, Supreme Court h directed students to approach respective High Courts regarding ir concerns.

Aligarh clashes
On Sunday, students who were protesting h marched towards main campus gate where y were allegedly attacked by police using tear gas shells, rubber bullets, stun grenes, pellets, and stones. Students allege that police and Rapid Action Force personnel forcibly entered campus to detain protestors. While police deny se claims, over 17 policemen were injured as protestors began to vandalise public property and torched up buses, while pelting stones. More than 60 students were allegedly injured in clashes.

After clashes, internet services h been snapped in area, and ministration vacated hostels and declared holidays till January 5. Reports state that a judicial has been ordered into incident by a district magistrate. Meanwhile, AMU ministration has stated that only 7 of those detained by Police during protest were students of AMU. This statement came as soon as three vocates released a list of 21 students and two AMU employees who y said were eir missing or h been detained without varsity authorities being informed.
Anti-CAA clashes in UP
Amid rampant protests, Luckw police on Thursday, used tear gas and batons on anti-CAA protestors when vehicles parked outside a police post were set ablaze and stone-pelting occurred, according to PTI. About 20 people have been taken into custody, said, police officials. Clashes have also been reported from Hussainab, Daliganj and Teele Wali Masjid and Chhota Imambara. A state transport bus too was set ablaze in Sambhal while a media OB van was set ablaze in Hazratganj. protest is against amended Citizenship Act which amends Citizenship Act 1955 to make refugees who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Banglesh and Pakistan, eligible for citizenship.
