The Supreme Court on Monday has received a short memorandum filed by the Ayodhya mediation committee seeking its permission to resume talks in the Ayodhya case. The three-member panel is headed by Justice FM Kalifulla, senior advocate Sriram Panchu, and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. In March, the apex court had referred the matter to the panel of mediators and had asked them to hold in-camera proceedings. They were given the time of eight weeks to address the case.

In their reports, the panel has mentioned that the religious parties have not been able to find a solution to the ongoing dispute and they have approached the panel seeking to resume the talks of negotiation for settlement in the Ayodhya dispute. They also mentioned that they do not want the day-to-day hearing of the case to stop.

Live streaming of Ayodhya case hearings

The Supreme Court on Monday has agreed to consider the plea to live streaming of the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case. The apex court has further asked the registry to respond in the matter. It has instructed the registry to inform as to how long it will take to facilitate live-streaming. The Court is currently hearing arguments on a daily basis from all parties involved in the issue.

In a massive setback to the Ayodhya land dispute, the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on August 2 declared that the Ayodhya mediation panel headed by Justice FM Kalifulla has failed. The court then began day-to-day hearings from August 6. Earlier, the three-member Ayodhya mediation panel submitted its status report to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover, complying with the orders of the apex court earlier on July 11. The apex court then declared that mediation has failed.
