BJP condemns attack on policemen in Tonk; says culprits should be 'strongly dealt' with

BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya condemned the attack on policemen in Rajasthan's Tonk and demanded that CM Gehlot should take strict action against the culprits

BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya on Friday condemned attack on policemen in Rajasthan's Tonk and demanded that state's Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot should take strict action against culprits. This comes after five policemen were injured when  cops were patrolling in areas where curfew has been imposed.  BJP IT cell chief claimed that 'such incidents' are happening in particular locations where ' mirity community' lives. 

Three of policemen attacked in Tonk have been mitted to hospital where y are undergoing treatment. Two of m have he injuries. In a similar incident earlier, a mob of around 150 persons in Uttar Presh's Morab h pelted stones on a team of medical and police personnel on Wednesday.

're is an epidemic'

Speaking to Republic TV, BJP's Amit Malviya said, "It is very unfortunate that while India is fighting pandemic, re is this epidemic which has broken out where healthcare workers are being attacked by people. I think we should be very clear that se attacks are happening in particular locations where mirity community lives. This has a lot to do with what has been told to m about Corona or ministration role in general."

Furrmore, he said, "When you have an influential seminary like Tablighi Jamaat and its he preachers who say that this is something that will be cured by intervention of God and doctors really don't matter. re is a problem in how community is being educated. And unless we realise challenge at hand, we will t be able to dress it."

Demanding stern action against culprits, Malviya said, "It is incumbent on local state government, Chief Minister, in this case, Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan and dress members of community that this cant go on forever. And those who are responsible for attack on policemen and frontline health workers, have to be dealt with strongly. way Uttar Presh police did in Morab."

'Attack was pre-planned'

Speaking to Republic TV earlier in day, Rajasthan Police said that attack was pre-planned. Police said: "re was crowd. We told m to go inside. But re were 100- 125 people who attacked us. Incident happened in Kasai mohalla. ir intention was t good. We just saved our lives.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan goverr Kalraj Mishra told Republic TV that strict action should be taken against those who attack doctors. He said, "We should t hesitate taking action against m. Coronavirus is a major disease, people should be aware that doctors are working for ir betterment only. Be it Morab, Punjab or Tonk, attackers should t be spared.
