CAG row: BJP alleges Kerala Govt used KIIFB as its source of income; calls for CBI probe

Amid ongoing controversy over Comptroller and Auditor General's report on state-run Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board, state BJP president K Surendran has w alleged that CPI(M) government used KIIFB fund as a “source to earn money” and called for CBI investigation into same.
" state government used KIIFB as a source to earn money. KIIFB deals are t transparent so re is a chance for corruption. CAG report backs our stand w. CBI should investigate deals in KIIFB. Unless government has done thing wrong, n why should y fear inquiry?" Surendran asked.

BJP leer also alleged that ruling CPI(M) is fielding those candidates in local body elections who have alleged nexus in gold smuggling case, which proves its connection with gold smuggling.

accusations came against backdrop of Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac's allegation that Union government is using central ncies and CAG office to sabot developmental activities in state.
Earlier, United Democratic Front (UDF) also alleged that Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac was deliberately trying to create controversy over CAG report on KIIFB in order to “divert public attention” from crisis faced by state government over gold smuggling and money laundering cases.

Kerala Minister defends KIIFB, attacks Opposition
On Saturday, Issac h alleged that CAG report is an attempt to “falsely prove” that KIIFB loans are unconstitutional.

"Vested-interest parties are using CAG for destroying Kerala's developmental projects. Congress and BJP are engd in a big conspiracy against developmental activities in Kerala with support of central government," he said.
With several projects of state government including KFONE coming under scanner of central ncies including Enforcement Directorate following probe into Kerala gold smuggling case, CPI(M) sees red in draft CAG report, prompting Isaac to cast doubts over Centre’s intention. He alleged that certain contents of draft report were "politically motivated".
