Congress leader Ishrat Jahan arrested for allegedly inciting violence during Delhi riots

On Saturday, former Municipal Councillor and current Congress leer Ishrat Jahan was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody for trying to incite people during violence in rth-east Delhi. Ishrat Jahan was mentioned in a Delhi Police FIR and was accused of giving provocative speeches during time of extreme communal tension in rth-East Delhi. police have stated that her speech h incited mob to le an attack as well. police has also mentioned names of 5-7 or local Congress leers who were involved in mob attack.

Jahan h been previously arrested by police on February 26 for her provocation and charged under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with dely weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 307 (attempt to murder), among or sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act. w she has been taken into judicial custody.

'Does t deserve bail at this st'
On Friday, Ishrat Jahan's bail plea was rejected by a Delhi Court heed by ditional Sessions Judge Naveen Gupta. While prouncing his order, Judge Naveen Gupta h said, “ nature of case slapped against Jahan is very serious. When law enforcement personnel are attacked in manner as reflected in FIR and that too, in full public view, such deeds erodes public confidence in ability of police officers to do ir duty… accused (Jahan), despite being a woman, does t deserve bail at this st.”
Jahan h been protesting at Delhi's Khureji Khas against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) since January 13. She was allegedly involved in blocking Khajuri Khas ro along with or protesters as well.
