A Delhi court on Saturday sent a woman associated with 'Pinjra Tod' group, a collective of women students and alumni of colleges from across Delhi, to three days' police custody in a case associated with violence in old Delhi's Daryaganj area during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act in December last year, said a lawyer.

court sent JNU student Devangana Kalita to custody after police said re was evidence against her alleged involvement in December violence, her lawyer said. This is third case under which Kalita has been arrested by police, of which two are related to rast Delhi riots. She was lodged in Mandoli jail in a separate case related to communal violence in rast Delhi in February.

Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad was also arrested in case for allegedly giving inflammatory speeches and later granted bail. Azad's outfit had called for a protest march from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar against amended Citizenship Act on December 20, without police permission. Or 15 people arrested in case were also granted bail by court. re were violent protests against Citizenship Amendment Act near Jama Masjid and Daryaganj area on December 20, during which people had pelted stones and torched vehicles. Many people including police officials were injured in incident.
