DRDO chief says 'It's now able to produce any missile that armed forces want'

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is achieving newer and bigger milestones every day. Over last five weeks, DRDO conducted 10 successful missile tests. se include Shaurya hypersonic missile, BrahMos extended-range missile, Prithvi nuclear-capable ballistic missile, Hypersonic missile techlogy development vehicles, Rudram I anti-riation missile and Supersonic Missile Assisted Release Torpedo weapon system.
While speaking to news ncy ANI, DRDO Chief G Saesh Reddy revealed how India h actually gained complete self-reliance in area of missiles. "We are w able to develop any of missile system what armed forces want," he ded when asked if re was need for armed forces to stop imports of missile systems," he said ding that private sector industry was also in 'good shape.'

"As part of that responsibility, DRDO has been working on many weapon systems. Even during COVID-19 period, scientists have been continuously working on that. All have matured and hence whenever a system is rey, we are going furr developmental trials," Reddy said.

G Saesh Reddy also shared how DRDO was contributing to nation's clarion call for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. "I can very confidently tell that we are strong and we are completely self-reliant in areas of missiles, rars, electronic warfare systems, torpedos, guns, and communication systems and so on. We are helping industry in a big way and lifting m up with various systems which y need to develop on ir own," he said ding that country was w looking towards indigeusly producing defence items that were orwise being imported.
" DRDO was given 108 items completely designed and developed by industry. We have instituted techlogy fund to support such industries and we have given our test facilities open to m. w, we are taking industry partners right from beginning of projects," he said.
