Gargi college lodges complaint with Delhi police, administration likely to be summoned

On Monday, a formal complaint with the police was finally lodged by the DU's Gargi college against the horrific incident that had taken place on their campus.

On Monday, DU's Gargi college finally lodged a formal complaint with police against horrific incident that had taken place on ir campus on February 6, where hundreds of men had barged into campus and allegedly misbehaved with women students re. Releasing a statement, a Gargi college student alleged that on Saturday, "8,000-10,000 individuals accumulated in ir campus" by jumping gates and damd property of Gargi. y allegedly manhandled, molested and groped women students during concert.

DCP South Atul Thakur anunced that case was launched under IPC Sections, 452, 354, 509, and 34. He also revealed that Inspecter CA (W) cell was in charge of investigation and Additional DCP south was appointed in charge of inquiry.

College administration to be summoned

complaint was filed against various sections including ones pertaining to sexual harassment and trespassing. DCP South had previously mentioned that even though a formal complaint hadn't been launched, inquiry was on into matter. However, w that complaint has also been filed, college authorities are expected to be summoned by police. Security personnel who were present at college campus during mishap are also likely to be probed.

entire college administration is under scrutiny especially after students revealed apatic attitude of Gargi college principal towards entire incident. On Monday, Principal of college Promila Kumar accepted laxity of administration. According to sources, a public apology has been issued by Principal to students.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), as well as NCW, has also taken cognizance of matter and has issued tice to both Gargi College administration and police to find why action had been taken till w especially when it came to a matter of alleged sexual harassment of female students in college.
