According to sources, a major scuffle broke out between villrs and District Magistrate and or senior police officials. villrs claimed that family had t been allowed to leave residence, sources added.
'Police have forcibly taken dead body'
Local police officers, however, told news ncy PTI that cremation was being carried out as per wishes of family. woman was raped in a vill in Hathras by four men on September 14. After her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital where she bread her last on Tuesday.

" police have forcibly taken dead body and my far along with m for cremation. When my far reached Hathras, he was immediately taken (to crematorium) by police." a bror of victim told PTI over phone at 1 AM on Wednesday.

Police deny allegations
Ar relative said that woman's far was accompanied by 30 to 40 people, chiefly relatives and ors from ir neighbourhood had gone to crematorium near Bool Garhi vill, under Chandpa police station limits, in district in western UP. Senior police and administration officials were also present at crematorium in middle of night, an official said.

When contacted, Hathras Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir told PTI in a text mess, "All procedures as per wish of family .."(sic). As news of 19-year-old's death spread, protests broke out in Delhi as well as in Hathras with all sections of society, including politicians, sports and cine stars and activists, expressing ir anguish and demanding justice for her.

four accused — Sandip, Ramu, Lavkush, and Ravi — have been arrested on charges of attempt to murder and gang rape. As per media reports, victim belonged to Scheduled Castes community, while attackers were from a so-called upper caste. Hathras district administration on Tuesday said a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs will be provided to victim's family. " state government has already provided compensation of Rs 4.12 lakhs to family," district magistrate tweeted.
