Hathras Horror: SIT records victim's family's statement; arrives after Yogi recommends CBI

3-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Uttar Presh government to probe horrifying Hathras incident arrived at victim’s residence on Sunday morning to record statements of her family. This comes after case was recommended to CBI by Chief Minister Yogi ityanath.

SIT has assured that it will share details regarding investigation soon after speaking to victim’s family. team h been given seven days’ time to send a report on Hathras gangrape to authorities. SIT tried recording statement of victim’s family but her far was t in state to speak, it said.

Cracking down on negligent police officers, UP CM Yogi ityanath suspended five police officers - district's Police Superintendent (SP) Vikrant Vir, Commanding officer Ram Shabd, Inspector Dinesh Kumar Verma, Sub Inspector Jagveer Singh, and He Constable Mahesh Pal based on preliminary report submitted by SIT on Friday - allegedly for 'midnight funeral'. Moreover, all officers involved in case will have to undertake narco and polygraph tests, as ordered by Chief Minister.

In latest development, CM Yogi has also recommended a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into case. 19-year-old Dalit woman succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. It was said from beginning that she was gangraped, for which 4 people were arrested. victim's family's complaint and her mor in a video don't state rape, however, following which autopsy also concurred. Republic TV on Friday accessed two tapes that are also doing rounds on social media of a conversation between alleged Congress intermediaries and persons close to victim's family. One conversation purports  alleged Congress middleman tutoring family's close friend to tell Congress Uttar Presh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi that authorities were pressurizing m to accept  ex-gratia amount.

In second tape, ar alleged Congress tout is heard telling someone close to family t to accept Rs.25 lakh compensation being offered by Yogi ityanath-led Uttar Presh government saying that someone will give Rs 50 lakh, and ding that former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is coming on foot to meet kin of victim
