'If I go to Taj Mahal, they'll think I have gone to buy it,' Robert Vadra on IT grilling

Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vra on Wednesday raised objections against repeated grillings by Income Tax Department remarking that 'he could not go anywhere or do anything' without drawing suspicions of Centre. businessman claimed that if he even took a trip to Taj Mahal, government might suspect that he has gone to buy heritage monument.
"I cannot do anything, cannot go anywhere. If I go to Taj Mahal, y think I have been re to buy Taj Mahal. Government has cornered in ir issues, y find ways to divert issues," said Robert Vra. "23,000 documents were taken away from my office. y've more information about me than I have in my office today. Every question y asked was answered clearly. re is no tax evasion," he ded.

After 9-hours of questioning on January 4, Vra was summoned by economic watchdog for a second consecutive day yesterday in connection with its probe under Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act. As per sources, IT team has expressed displeasure regarding his statements saying that y were 'unsatisfied' with his remarks.

businessman, however, has claimed that summons were being issued to him against backdrop of his wife and Congress leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra's involvement in farmers' agitation. Attributing political motives to IT action, Vra alleged, " timing is re. It is consistent. It keeps happening to me. Whenever re is an issue around, Robert Vra props up. If it not this, it will be something else. When re is an election, when re is something, my name is used."

"If my family works hard for people of this country and if y want to digress from issues of government, y will use me or y will use any or issue to digress. y should help farmers and do something good for people of this country," he elaborated.
