Gargi college molestation: Inspector of Crime Against Women (CAW) to lead probe

Inspector of Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell has been designated as an investigation officer in the alleged molestation case of Delhi University's Gargi College.

After cases of mass molestation were reported on Sunday at Delhi University's Gargi College, inspector of Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell has been designated as an investigation officer in case. Furrmore, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Geetanjali Khandelwal is conducting a detailed inquiry into matter and will also supervise investigation of case closely. 

On February 9, students of Delhi University's Gargi College purported that y were molested by men during ir annual college festival 'Reverie' on February 6.

A student released a statement, alleging that on Saturday 8,000-10,000 individuals accumulated in campus by jumping gates and damd property of Gargi. statement furr accused individuals of allegedly manhandling, molesting  women students during concert.

Apprising about case, Delhi police stated that Khandelwal is constantly in touch with Principal of college over incident. Furrmore, it is reported that Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has reached college on February 10, taking cognisance of matter. Empathizing with painful experiences faced by girls, Maliwal had earlier slammed college authorities for t registering a case in incident.

Gargi College watchman confirms that goons entered campus

Republic TV spoke to watchman of college who confirmed that men forcefully entered college campus during annual college festival. 

"It was overcrowded. This gate was locked. Due to crowd, lock broke and crowd entered. Around 50-60 thousand people were inside. re was possibility to check at that time. Everything had failed at that time. Female students are alleging y can confirm what happened. Police could have controlled but y did t come inside. n, a team of CRPF came in. For a few minutes y were standing outside, and n y came inside, y were unable to do much," watchman said. 

Gargi is a women's college of Delhi University and entry of men during festival is only permissible if y have a valid ID card. However, students allege that due to laxity by administration, n-teaching staff, police force, and RAF, influx of men continued without a valid pass and after time allotted for outside students to enter.
