JNU Protest: Section 144 prohibits an assembly of more than 4 people in an area, has been imposed across the campus with 1,400 security personnel being deployed

Amidst ongoing protest by Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed on campus. Section 144 CrPC prohibits an assembly of more than four people in an area, has been imposed across JNU campus on Monday. Tight security arrangements have been made in campus with 1,400 security personnel deployed outside ahead of JNSU's protest march to Parliament on first day of winter session. This is happening at time when winter session of Parliament is beginning.

protests have turned from Opposition to hostel rule changes to an all-out political and ideological slugfest. Demonstrations have taken a violent and ugly turn many times with administration meetings being disturbed and staff members harassed. assistant dean of students was allegedly detained for nearly thirty hours, a soon-to-be-unveiled statue of Swami Vivekananda was desecrated with objectionable messs and varsity corridors along with vice-chancellor's office were marked with derogatory remarks by suspected miscreants. JNU has already filed complaints with Delhi police and investigations into matter are underway.

Teachers urge students to end ir protest

Amidst ongoing protest by Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), a section of teachers from university urged students to end ir protest and get back to academics. students of varsity have been protesting for over past two weeks against recently introduced hostel manual, which imposes a hiked hostel fee and or restrictions. administration had also issued a circular urging m to join academic work.   teachers addressed a press conference and anunced, an executive committee was chaired to discuss issue and extend concession for fees.
