Kamlesh Tiwari murder case; Suspect allegedly involved in planning
A day after the Maharashtra ATS arrested a man in connection with the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari, a local court handed the accused to the Uttar Pradesh Police

A local court on Monday handed the accused in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder case over to the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police on transit remand. The developments came after a day the Maharashtra ATS arrested a man in connection with the murder of former working president of the Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha. The accused has been identified as Syed Asim Ali. The 29 year-old was allegedly involved in planning the murder and giving safe passage to the culprits, according to ATS officers.

'Ali is the national vice-president of Sunni Youth Force'
Tiwari was killed in Lucknow on Friday. Nagpur ATS chief Anil Lokhande said, “Ali is the national vice-president of an organisation called Sunni Youth Force and was city unit chief of a political front called Minorities Democratic Party. He was produced before a court here on Monday and handed over to UP Police on transit remand.” Previously on Saturday, Maharashtra ATS arrested Ali based on leads provided by the Uttar Pradesh Police. They did not reveal his details then. Meanwhile, five persons, including three from Gujarat's Surat, had been held in connection with the murder by the UP police on Saturday.

Tiwari's murder has been a radical killing
Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) DIG Himanshu Shukla on Saturday revealed that all three suspects who were detained confessed to the crime. Sources report that the Gujarat police spoke to the brother of the conspirators who had allegedly asked Tiwari for an opportunity to work with him, before his murder. Two other suspects are on the radar of the police. In a press conference held in Lucknow, UP Director-General of Police (DGP) OP Singh gave a prima facie observation that Tiwari's murder has been a radical killing. He contended that the suspected killers were allegedly radicalised by a speech that the Hindu Samaj Party delivered in 2015.

Tiwari was shot dead in Lucknow
Earlier on Friday, October 18, Tiwari was shot dead in Lucknow. The leader of Hindu Mahasabha was attacked by unidentified assailants on Friday afternoon, barging into Tiwari’s office. Soon after the attack, he was admitted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. While the assailants managed to flee the spot, a revolver was also recovered from the site of the crime. Police stated that the accused spent around 30 minutes with him on the pretext of gifting him, sweets.
