Encroachers kill leopard in Guwahati, steal its canine teeth; 7 nabbed by police so far
In yet another horrific incident of man-animal conflict, a leopard has been brutally killed and paraded by encroachers in Katahbari area of Guwahati, Assam.

In yet ar horrific incident of man-animal conflict, a leopard has been brutally killed and pared by encroachers in Katahbari area of Guwahati. Officials of forest department have confirmed that leopard was t a stray and in fact, those living in area have encroached Fatasil Reserve Forest.
Leopard mand to escape initially
As per reports, on Saturday evening forest department got to kw that people living in Fatasil Reserve Forest area of city have laid a trap to catch a leopard. forest department immediately sent a team to spot to take stock of situation.

Later, on Sunday, a team of forest department went to spot to tranquillize leopard. One shot of tranquillizer was fired on leopard, but due to its strong immune, it gained back its sense quickly and mand to escape to a nearby locality.
When leopard went to ar locality, people living re got hold of weak leopard and killed it brutally, before stealing its teeth. mob also pared animal through locality, as some mly rejoiced.

forest department immediately swung into action and filed an FIR with Garchuk Police Station. police so far nabbed seven persons in this connection and still hunt is on to nab a few ors.

Speaking to Republic Media Network, Forest Minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya me it very clear that it was people who invited conflict and t leopard. He said, "It's very unfortunate. leopard couldn't be saved as it went to ar locality where our team was t present. We have registered a case under Wildlife Act and action will be taken."

This is t first instance that leopards have been killed in a brutal manner in State. Earlier also in a tea garden, ar leopard was brutally killed and skinned.
