NIA crackdown continues in Coimbatore as the residence of another youngster is probed

The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) continued to crackdown the ISIS module in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as it searched the residence of another youngster, probing terror links. Last week NIA took custody of an accused Mohammed Azharuddeen for running a pro-ISIS website and trying to form an ISIS Coimbatore module.

The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) continued to crackdown the ISIS module in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as it searched the residence of another youngster, probing terror links. Last week NIA took custody of an accused Mohammed Azharuddin for running a pro-ISIS website and trying to form an ISIS Coimbatore module. 

During interrogation, Azharudeen is said to have informed the NIA that he had given two hard discs to M Shinoid in BK Pudur in Coimbatore. Based on that, NIA raided Shinoid's house and seized two hard discs on 20 June. NIA also has informed Shinoid that he would be summoned for an inquiry whenever required.

Earlier on Wednesday, the NIA had conducted raids in seven locations in Coimbatore in connection with the ISIS module case. Apart from the SDPI and PFI pamphlets, it seized four mobiles, 29 SIM cards, ten pen drives, three laptops, six memory cards, four hard disc drives and 13 CDs/ DVDs, 300 air-gun pellets, incriminating documents.

The NIA officials carried out the raids after receiving a tip-off from other intelligence agencies. As per sources, Tamil Nadu state police is also present at the spot of the searches.

The NIA probe has also uncovered the link between Zahran Hashim and Riyaz Aboobacker - who was arrested on April 30 by the NIA in Kerala in connection to the Sri Lanka Easter blasts.

The NIA also suspects that Zahran Hashim who it believes is the mastermind had also traveled to India illegally via sea route.
