Nirbhaya Case: Cop who conducted investigation says 'hanging will send strong message'
ACP Rajender Singh who was a part of the probe team in the Nirbhaya case stated that the hanging of the convicts will send a strong message to the society.

After all four death row convicts in Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case were hanged on Friday at 5.30 am ACP Rajender Singh who was a part of probe team in case stated that hanging will send a strong mess to society that criminals will t be spared.
"This will send a mess to society that those who commit such crimes will t be spared. We investigated case considering gravity of matter even before public pressure was built in case," Singh told news ncy ANI.

Cop narrates probe into case
ACP Rajender Singh revealed that police had taken immediate cognisance of Nirhaya case on night of horrific incident after which an SIT was constituted to look into matter. "A team was formed as soon as possible and we started taking action same night. Firstly, probe was conducted by a police station based team n an SIT was constituted, which had several good police officers on board," Singh said.
He also revealed that Nirhaya case was iconic because entire identification of accused happened using a 'digital route' during which y were identified by five or six different ways. He also stated that this was first time 'teeth bytes' were used as evidence.

"In this case, we used evidence like teeth bytes for first time. DNA samples were properly collected and matched. We also made a digital route of entire incident," he said. "Police officers were also available, t only during probe or arrest but all through case. We did t let complainant or witnesses loose ir confidence. court had also commended investigation," he added.
ACP Rajinder Singh also revealed that investigation done in case is taught to trainee police officers at Delhi Police training centres. "We had formed emotional bond with family of victim after our officers spent time with m at hospital during treatment of victim. That feeling impelled us to do a more concrete investigation," Singh said.
