A Delhi court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to former finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti in Aircel Maxis cases filed by CBI and Enforcement Directorate. A Special Judge OP Saini granted relief to Chidambarams and directed m to join probe in cases. "In event of arrest, y be released on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and one surety of like amount. accused are directed to join investigation, court said. court said that both probe ncies, instead of arguing matter, were seeking date after date since filing of complaint on pretext of furr investigation.

It also said that probe in Aircel-Maxis cases have been highly belated by both ncies as almost entire material was in ir possession since beginning. conduct of ncies to seek date after date on pretext of furr probe speaks for itself and needs elaboration, court said. " possibility for Chidambarams to commit similar crime as y don't hold official position in government w," said court, adding that allegations of ncies against Chidambarams were t of grave magnitude as money laundered was only Rs 1.13 crore. " allegations against accused are also t of grave magnitude as money laundered is only Rs 1.13 crore, which is paltry amount in comparison to allegations against Dayanidhi Maran and ors, where bribe amount was Rs 749 crore but he was t arrested," court said.

It furr added that investigating ncies should t discriminate between two similar situated accused, as this was against rule of law. Chidambarams are under scanner of investigating ncies in Aircel-Maxis deal as also INX Media case involving Rs 305 crore.
