Palghar mob lynching: Supreme Court agrees to hear plea for transfer of case to NIA

Supreme Court on Thursday issued tice to Maharashtra government, DGP, Centre and CBI respondents on petitions filed by Hindu Sadhus of Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara and relatives of two deceased Sadhus in Palghar mob lynching incident.

petitions have been filed on behalf of Mahant Shraddhanand Saraswati and Ghanshyam Upadhyay before Supreme Court stating that video clips that have emerged of incident depict how Police might have played an active role in lynching of Shadhus at Palghar.

Supreme Court issued a tice to respondents, asking m to respond to petitions within four weeks. petitioners also sought probe to be transferred to National Investigation ncy for a fair, impartial probe.

'Witnesses committing suicide'

lawyer for Mahant Shraddhanand Saraswati told Supreme Court that witnesses were committing suicide and that’s why y had reasons to suspect that probe was t taking its course.

petitioners also sought an urgent hearing from Supreme Court on issue stating that y had apprehensions that evidence may disappear. Maharashtra government, on or hand, we opposed petitions saying that similar petitions were already pending before Bombay High Court.

Supreme Court has issued a tice in matter and asked all parties to respond to petitions by second week of July.
