In a furr development in Palghar mob-lynching case, a Mumbai-based lawyer - Ghanshyam Upadhyay, on Friday, has moved Bombay High Court seeking transfer of investigation into case to National Investigation ncy (NIA). plea states that petitioner - a follower ‘Vaidik Sanatan Dharm’ has been pained by brutal murder of two Hindu saints and ir driver. Quoting Bhima Koregaon incident, petitioner has expressed inability of state CID to investigate case, due to alleged involvement of policemen in crime.

What is Palghar lynching case?

On last Thursday night, three men - identified as Sushilgiri Maharaj, Chikne Maharaj Kalpavriksha Giri, and Nilesh Telwade, were allegedly lynched to death by a mob of 200 people in Gadchinchle in Maharashtra's Palghar district, as y were suspected to be thieves. Sources said that three men reportedly from Nashik were travelling in a car, last Thursday, when y were stopped by a group and attacked. mob reportedly pelted stones at victims' car, before all three men were pulled out of car and beaten with sticks and rods.

Sources state that a police vehicle from Kasa police station was also attacked and policemen were beaten up. Kasa police have arrested 101 in connection to case and suspended two police personnel present on site. After ordering a high-level probe, state Home Ministry has transferred case to state CID. Moreover, CM Uddhav Thackeray has warned action against those communalising issue, while Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has stated that all suspects belonged to same religion of victims - dismissing a communal angle to assault.
